HUF FACHWERKHAUS 2000 ART 9

Living in harmony with the surrounding nature

HUF HAUS ART 9

Dear Friends of HUF HAUS architecture !

When I designed the HUF FACHWERKHAUS 2000 for Franz Huf in 1972, there was nothing to indicate there would be so many variations of it and the concept would still enjoy growing market success 36 years later. What is more, it has become a classic – a European brand-name product.

How is it a house comes to be associated with a brand name? To begin with, the architecture must be unmistakable and immune to the latest quirks of fashion. Its structural and aesthetic intent must be easily recognisable and distinct. An eloquent language of shape – the opposite of uninspired – is a must. A clear-cut floor plan and spatial structure are required to permit inhabitants and their guests to experience the living space in a unique way. Workmanship can be no less than perfect, with details shaped to emphasise a harmonious whole. To achieve this harmony, only a few materials may be used: wood, glass, stone, or carpet.

Even a brand – a classic – must exercise care in adapting to change, because if a brand is associated with technological innovation, a classic can have enduring success in the marketplace.

Every brand with a distinguished profile hangs in the balance between wonder and rejection. The wealth of light and intricate accord between the interior and the natural world, in short, the transparency of the HUF FACHWERKHAUS 2000 is not suited to just anybody. Two types seem to oppose one another. On the one hand, we have “recluses” or burrowers, who have difficulty dealing with the wide-open spaces. On the other hand, we have “nesters”, who crave nothing more than transparency and opennes.

Innovative climate conservation and efficient energy use harmonise with architecture, making the future a vision to behold.

HUF HAUS Paragraph

In the HUF Village, the new HUF FACHWERKHAUS 2000 labelled ART 9 stands out not only because of its volume, outstanding roominess, and extraordinary generosity, but above all, due to many new structural, technical, and aesthetic details. A particular standout among these is the new solar roof developed by HUF HAUS. It is the product of further innovation and evolved from the HUF Solar Home – the winner of the German Solar Prize in 2001 that stands across the way. Here we must especially thank Karl Eckert and his team for the excellent technical planning and implementation.

The glass roof, which is also composed of photovoltaic modules and solar thermal collectors, completely covers the house’s needs for electricity, including heating and cooling. Builders of this generous home have met their responsibilities to the environment and climate in a special way because the CO2 emissions of this house equal zero.

In the new ART 9, special dedication has been devoted to incorporating the motif “the four elements” into the interior and aesthetic concept of the house. It is a classical theme, inspired by new, interesting impulses in HARMONY with the philosophy of HUF HAUS architecture. Please come and have a look!

Yours sincerely,

Manfred Adams
